What you see in CAD is not what you see at the end
A digital model can show edges, transitions and details perfectly. In the physical process those same details go through several stages, and each stage can affect how they read on the finished piece.
There is no single automatic compensation
Print quality, casting and finishing work are not identical in every production chain. So there is no single rule that can be applied blindly to every piece. You need to understand the type of element and the desired result.
Sometimes the adjustment is almost invisible on screen
Some production-ready decisions are not an effect the client is meant to see in a render. They exist so that the detail survives the move from digital to metal correctly.
This knowledge connects CAD to the workshop
Designing for finishing requires understanding what happens after the file leaves the computer. It isn’t only a question of software, but of experience with real manufacturing processes.
